- Purchasing specialist age related resources to promote learning priorities for developing pupils’ literacy and numeracy skills: Lexia, Manga High and Dockside reading scheme, subscription to Abacus English and Maths.
A final data report on the impact will be available at the end of July 2019.
Y7 Catch- Up Funding Premium 17/18
The Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives state-funded schools, including special schools and alternative provision settings, additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).
Based on pupil numbers in September 2017 we received a sum of £458. The school used this money to purchase practical resources for English and Maths. Examples include Uno, Boggle, memory games, sand timers and interlocking and fraction cubes.
Data for these pupils showed that all of the pupils made more than expected progress in either their spoken English, reading and writing skills, closing the gap against age relate expected norms. Two out of the three pupils also made more than expected progress in maths.
In addition and more noticeable were the improvements pupils made in relation to their engagement in lessons and assessed through use of hard and soft data.
